MENTAL HEALTH FOR MEN

By: Elias Destiny

There have been a myth that men don't experience mental health issues, they are always strong and tough. The fact is that men do experience mental health issues too. People should know that Mental health does not discriminate based on gender. In fact, men just like women face a range of mental health challenges.

Recent research shoes that Almost 50 percent of men would wait to see if health issues go away rather than trying to see a doctor. Due to societal norms and messages conveyed in the media such as "boys don't cry" or "man up", men are often less willing to acknowledge the existence of mental health related issues, this  can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as alcohol subsistence abuse.

Some men suffering from mental health problems; anxiety and depression, can turn to drug abuse and alcohol as a coping mechanism for mental health problems, ignoring the fact that drug abuse can make things worse, increasing stress and anxiety because its a depressant.

Drug abuse can increase severity of depression as well as the ability to handle a situation. What's more, drug abuse can interrupt normal life patterns, such as lack of sleep which in turn leaves someone tired and negatively impacting the moods.

To avoid all these men should also strive to get out of mental health problems and do away with all myths around them. We should go for therapy sessions since Physical and mental health contributes to fulfilment of plans we have through hardworking since people are sober minded and have focus.

In all circumstances, frustrations and flows, mental health and physical care are both critical to men well being. It is good to share with people close to you when a problem arise than keeping quite and assuming the issue will go away. Men should embrace physical health like doing exercises, sleeping well and eating healthy for it also contribute to mental health fitness.
